Dal punto di vista del design, abbiamo un device con scocca in plastica, caratterizzato da un'unità display IPS da 5.2 pollici di diagonale con risoluzione Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel ed una densità di pixel di 424 PPI.
Lato hardware il Huawei P9 Lite è mosso dal processore octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 650 con architettura ARMv8-A a 64 bit: 4 x Cortex-A53 da 2.0 GHz + 4 x Cortex-A53 da 1.7 GHz. La parte grafica è affidata alla GPU ARM Mali-T830, mentre lato memorie troviamo 2/3 GB di RAM e 16 GB di memoria interna, espandibile tramite micro SD fino a 128 GB.
