ASUS ROG Phone 2 è l'ultimo smartphone dedicato al gaming del produttore taiwanese. Rispetto al primo modello sono state apportate alcune modifiche estetiche, ma soprattutto aumentano le dimensioni. Adesso è ancora meno tascabile, ma in virtù di un più ampio schermo da 6.59″ Full HD+ in 19.5:9 e di una capiente batteria da 6000 mAh. Siamo quindi di fronte al top di gamma con la batteria più grossa in circolazione. Questo per far fronte ad un pannello AMOLED con refresh rate a 120 Hz, più energivoro rispetto ai classici schermi a 60 Hz.

Ovviamente molta importanza è stata data al comparto hardware, a partire dallo Snapdragon 855+ di Qualcomm, il quale gode di CPU e GPU overclockate rispetto allo Snap 855. Il SoC è coadiuvato da 8/12 GB di RAM e 256/512 GB di storage interno UFS 3.0 non espandibile. Il tutto è poi tenuto a bada dal sistema di raffreddamento passivo in grado di tenere le temperature sotto i 40° C. Niente sensore ID sul retro, dato che lo sblocco biometrico è stato spostato davanti sotto al display.

Parlando di fotocamere, posteriormente troviamo sempre una dual camera da 48+13 mega-pixel con apertura f/1.8-2.4, grandangolare da 125° ed un sensore frontale da 24 mega-pixel. Il sistema operativo Android 9.0 Pie è arricchito dalle numerose funzionalità gaming della ROG Gaming UI, ma con possibilità di avere una grafica in stile Android stock.
